La Mer, developed by Raymond and Scott Lutgert, was built in 1978 and was the first high-rise building in Naples built around a central atrium featuring hanging gardens … the most striking feature in this 16-story, 104-unit tower. The developer’s success in past projects can be attributed to their belief that luxury condominiums should offer the extravagance of space …not just in area, but in volume. Some of the La Mer units offer luxuries such as fireplaces, built-in barbeque grills on terraces overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, extra large floor plans and 13-foot ceilings.
Upon entering the building, an elegant reflection pond graces the lobby. Part of many of the inherently strong architectural elements, the atrium soars from the ground level to the roof. Undulating, angled galleries, from which stem the residences, repeat themselves from the ground level to the 17th level rooftop area. Topping the enormous atrium are large glass panels supported by a polymer-coated metallic chrome-finished frame spanning 60 feet in one direction and 92-feet in the other direction.
La Mer recently completed a major renovation to the lobby and pool adding a modern element to a vintage building. The building is conveniently located across the street from Venetian Village, allowing residents easy access to the many shopping and dining options in Venetian Village as well as the nearby Waterside Shops.
Living in La Mer is like being in a 5-diamond hotel. It is one of the few condominiums that has tennis, basketball and shuffle board courts, as well as a library and exercise room. Residents are also afforded the opportunity to lease or purchase boat slips.
